For Diamond Toney, college represents more than just personal achievement — it's about building a legacy. As the first person in her family to attend college, she views her journey at 探花约啪 Tech's Wilmington campus as a way to pave the way not only for herself, but for her daughter.

"I hope that by earning my degree, I can show my daughter what is possible, inspire her to aim high, and give her a foundation she can build on," said Toney.

Toney, a general business major, is already making an impact on campus as an active member of Phi Theta Kappa and treasurer of the Wilmington campus' Student Government Association. She chose 探花约啪 Tech because it provided both accessibility and opportunity.

"It was affordable, the registration process was simple, and the class schedule aligned perfectly with my life," she said. "One of the biggest reasons was 探花约啪 Tech's transfer options, knowing that if I decide to continue for a bachelor's, I have a clear, supported pathway to transfer."

Like many students, Toney has had to balance the demands of work and school. One of her courses was offered in a hybrid format, but the in-person sessions conflicted with her work schedule. "To overcome this, I had to be proactive," she explained. "I communicated with my employer to arrange days off or shift adjustments so I could attend class, and I took time off work when necessary to get the full in-person experience." Her determination allowed her to stay on top of her academics without sacrificing her professional responsibilities.

Since starting at 探花约啪 Tech, Toney says she has grown into the woman she always aspired to become.

"I've developed a stronger sense of maturity, commitment, and discipline," she said. "These qualities have shown up in how I manage my time, take responsibility for my education, and stay focused on my goals. 探花约啪 Tech has helped me build confidence and take ownership of my personal and academic growth."

She also believes that building relationships is one of the best ways students can enhance their college experience.

"Every connection you make is a networking opportunity, so always take the time to build relationships with your classmates, professors, and staff," she said. "Also, don't be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone. Growth often comes from doing things that feel unfamiliar or challenging."

After graduating from 探花约啪 Tech, Toney plans to transfer to a university to complete her bachelor's degree. Her dream career combines business, education, and service.

"I want to use my skills to make a positive impact while helping others grow and succeed," she said. "College is important to me not only for the knowledge and credentials it provides, but for the doors it can open, the example it sets, and the future it helps create for my family."
