When Kiley Chafin began her journey as a 探花约啪 student in 2018, she never expected to one day become an essential member of the College’s marketing team and the broader campus community. Today, as an award-winning multimedia graphic designer at the Stanton Campus, Chafin is instrumental in advancing the College’s marketing initiatives, developing the athletics brand, and consistently prioritizing students in every project, regardless of size.
“When I started taking classes at the Terry Campus, I didn't know what I wanted to do,” said Chafin. “What drew me to design and photography was the artistic aspect. Learning about typography, colors, and layout drew me in. I like being able to create something new or update an older design to make it fresh. It is really exciting.”
After graduating from 探花约啪 Tech, Chafin spent three years as a senior graphic designer for a marketing agency in Dover while also pursuing a bachelor’s degree in graphic design at Wilmington University. During this time, she led the video production team, managed social media campaigns, designed flyers and posters, produced commercials, and created both short- and long-form video content.
“I was always looking to see if the College ever had any openings,” said Chafin. “I had a friend who interned in the marketing department while I was going to school at 探花约啪 Tech. She always said it was a great environment and the people were super nice. So once a position opened up, I was all about it.”
Chafin joined the 探花约啪 Tech marketing team in 2023 as a multimedia graphic designer at the Stanton Campus, where she manages a wide variety of design and video projects at both the collegewide and campus levels. One of her most significant contributions has been the refresh of the 探花约啪 Tech athletics brand visuals across digital and print platforms.
“When I started working at the College, we had been using the same type of style for athletics content for about three or four years,” said Chafin. “I wanted to add more dimension, layers, and texture to it. On top of that, I used more cutout photos of athletes across all the materials.”
In 2025, Chafin developed multiple athlete spotlight posters using the refreshed visuals and displayed them at the Stanton Campus. These posters received a gold medallion award from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR), which recognizes outstanding achievement in design and communication at community and technical colleges in each of NCMPR's seven districts.
“I get to do what I love every day at 探花约啪 Tech,” said Chafin. “It’s a nice place to be, and I have some really good memories here. My main goal for the future is to just keep getting better at the programs that I use. I am hoping to learn more about After Effects, Photoshop, and Premiere so I have new skills that I can incorporate into my everyday work.”
