Dr. Rocco Rinaldi
Instructor, Business Administration
With more than 25 years of leadership experience in the business world, Dr. Rocco Rinaldi brings a wealth of real-world insight to the classroom at 探花约啪 Tech. His professional background spans organizational development, executive consulting, franchise training and support, and entrepreneurship, all of which shape his practical, student-focused approach to teaching. Inspired in part by his daughter’s experience at 探花约啪 Tech, he made the transition to higher education and found a strong connection to the College’s mission of student success and workforce readiness. He recently added author to his list of accomplishments with the publication of his book, Manifesting Your Dream Career, which explores how to align thoughts, feelings, and actions with a dream job to build a fulfilling professional life. In this Q&A, he reflects on his path to 探花约啪 Tech, his teaching philosophy, and the experiences that continue to guide his work with students.
Q: Can you share your journey to becoming a faculty member at 探花约啪 Tech? When did you start, and what were you doing before?
“My path to teaching was not traditional. I spent more than 25 years in leadership roles in the business world, including organizational development, executive consulting, franchise training and support, and entrepreneurship. Over time, I realized how valuable it would be to bring real-world experiences into the classroom. I decided to join 探花约啪 Tech because of the experience my daughter had with the nursing program (BSN) in Dover. Once on board, I quickly learned that we are a place where practical knowledge and academic learning come together in meaningful ways, with a strong commitment to student success and workforce readiness.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about working at 探花约啪 Tech? What do you find most rewarding about teaching at 探花约啪 Tech?
“One of the most rewarding aspects is working with such a diverse group of students. Many of our students are balancing school, work, and family responsibilities. Seeing them grow in confidence and realize their potential is incredibly fulfilling. The most rewarding moments are when students begin connecting theory with real-world applications. When a student says, ‘I can actually see myself doing this,’ that’s when you know the learning has truly clicked.”
Q: How would you describe your teaching philosophy?
“My teaching philosophy centers on bringing practical experience into the classroom; I believe students learn best when they actively engage with real-world problems. Whether through simulations, group projects, or case studies, I encourage students to think critically, collaborate, and apply business principles in meaningful ways.”
Q: Are you currently involved in any research or special projects? If so, how do you integrate them into your teaching?
“Outside of the classroom, I’m involved in consulting projects related to entrepreneurship and franchise development. These experiences allow me to bring current industry insights into my courses. I also work on writing and publishing projects that explore leadership, personal development, and career success. More recently, I have taken on the capstone course for business administration students and have been able to hit the ground running because of my extensive business experience, given that the course includes an internship requirement for students.”
Q: What challenges have you faced in your career, and how have you overcome them? What changes have you seen in yourself since you started working here?
“It has been a challenge transitioning from the pace of the business world to academia. In the industry, decisions are often made quickly. In education, the focus is on reflection and learning. That shift helped me become more patient and thoughtful in how I communicate ideas and support students.”
Q: Can you share a significant achievement or milestone in your professional journey?
“During my tenure at 探花约啪 Tech, it has been meaningful seeing former students succeed in their careers. When students stay in touch and share their accomplishments, it reinforces why teaching is such a rewarding profession. As an accidental teacher, I truly relish the opportunity I have to make a difference in a student's future.”
Q: What are your interests or hobbies outside of the College?
“Outside of teaching and consulting, I enjoy beach vacations with my family in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, distance running, pickleball, and hard rock concerts.”
Q: What advice would you give to students pursuing a career in your field?
“My advice is to remain curious and open to learning. Business and leadership are constantly evolving, so the ability to adapt and continue growing is essential. The key is to find a niche that is interesting and a way to be unique, but still valuable to your employer.”
Q: Is there a particular experience or lesson that has profoundly impacted your teaching or outlook on education?
“One lesson that has stayed with me is that leadership is not about authority, it’s about influence and service. The best leaders focus on helping others succeed. I try, when applicable, to teach the value of servant leadership and, even as a new or inexperienced employee, take on any role with positivity and interest, as you never know where it will lead.”
Q: What’s something people may not know about you?
“Something people may not know about me is that my wife and I are passionate about dog rescues. We currently have four Chihuahua rescues and have rescued eight dogs in total.”
Q: What are your future goals?
“My future goals include continuing to develop innovative learning experiences for students, with franchising as a particular area of focus. I am also interested in pursuing future writing and research projects that support personal and leadership development.”
