Q: Can you share your journey to becoming a staff member at 探花约啪 Tech? When did you start, and what were you doing before?

“I began my career at 探花约啪 Tech in the fall of 2017 as an adjunct instructor. Through my work in various roles within Student Affairs, I gained valuable experience that led to me becoming a full-time academic counselor in the spring of 2022. Prior to and during my part-time tenure at 探花约啪 Tech, I also owned and operated a successful business. Before pursuing entrepreneurship, I spent nearly 15 years working in the field of marketing.”

Q: Describe your first day at 探花约啪 Tech. What was that experience like?

“My first day as an academic counselor was a whirlwind in the best possible way. Although I was working with the same team and continuing many of the responsibilities I had previously held, stepping into the role in a full-time capacity made the experience feel more meaningful and real. It marked an important milestone in my professional journey, and I felt a strong sense that my path had led me to that moment. I was both excited and motivated to continue developing in my own career, while also supporting students as they navigate and discover their own paths.”

Q: What is your favorite thing about working at 探花约啪 Tech?

“I truly enjoy working with students who come to 探花约啪 Tech with a goal to improve their future. Whether they are first-generation college students or continuing a family legacy of higher education, it is incredibly rewarding to watch them grow, discover more about themselves, and begin to recognize the possibilities that lie ahead. Witnessing students gain confidence and envision a future they are excited about is both a meaningful and inspiring experience.”

Q: Do you have a favorite memory from your time at 探花约啪 Tech thus far?

“One of my most meaningful memories from my time at 探花约啪 Tech was reconnecting with a childhood friend who had faced challenges and, for a time, felt lost in their path. After earning their GED, they successfully transitioned into a degree-seeking program and are now on track to graduate this year with honors. Witnessing the growth in their confidence and sense of self-worth has been a true honor. While stories of transformation occur frequently among students across our campuses, each one remains just as remarkable and inspiring to witness.”

Q: What challenges have you faced in your career, and how have you overcome them? What changes have you seen in yourself since you started working here?

“When I joined 探花约啪 Tech, I initially experienced a significant learning curve. The norms, terminology, and practices within the higher education environment were all new to me and, at times, somewhat intimidating. As I navigated new responsibilities and challenges, I relied heavily on the guidance and support of mentors who helped me grow and adapt within the field. Over time, I have become more confident in asking questions and embracing new opportunities rather than hesitating due to uncertainty. These experiences have strengthened my ability to approach challenges with curiosity and resilience, while continuing to develop within the higher education profession.”

Q: Can you share a significant achievement or milestone in your professional journey?

“I recently defended my dissertation, marking the final step in earning my EdD. Achieving this milestone fulfills a significant professional goal. I look forward to leveraging this credential, along with my experience, to continue making meaningful and positive contributions to those around me.”

Q: What are your interests or hobbies outside of the College?

“I like visiting museums of all kinds, and I will wait to read every sign. I can get utterly lost in the books I am reading, and I love building LEGOs.”

Q: What’s something people may not know about you?

“The Lion King is my favorite animated movie.”
