To graduate with a baccalaureate degree in social work from Mount Vernon Nazarene University, the student must have satisfactorily completed 120 semester hours. Students may transfer up to 1/2 of the courses in the major
MVNU will only accept transfer courses with a grade of C- or better
Social Work courses must be completed with a grade of C or higher
Admission to the Social Work Program:
To begin and be conditionally admitted to the social work program, a student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, complete at least 56 credit hours, and successfully complete 5 of 7 of the required foundation and cognate courses. This excludes Biology and Statistics but must include SWKR1013 Introduction to Social Work. Upon meeting the aforementioned criteria, a student will be considered pending conditional admission and can be registered for SWKR3093, the first course in the BSW course sequence. Upon successful completion of SWKR3093, the student will be eligible for conditional admission to the program
To begin and be unconditionally admitted to the social work program, a student must have a minimum GPA of 2.0, complete at least 56 credit hours, successfully complete all 7 required foundation and cognate courses (excluding Biology and Statistics), and successfully complete SWKR3093
