Lacrosse Looks To Build Off 2021 Success
February 22, 2022
探花约啪 Tech's men's lacrosse program entered the 2021 season after having been inactive for a few years and the season was viewed as one that could lay the foundation for future success. By the end of the year, it was evident that goal had been accomplished.
The team finished runner-up in the 2021 Region 19 Championship Tournament, had four players earn all-region honors, and was named 2021 NJCAA National Academic Lacrosse Team of the Year by finishing the year with a team GPA of 3.22.
"Our expectation is to get ourselves into a position to compete for the region 19 championship again," Head Coach Sean Tischler said. "Our goal is to just keep developing as a program. We feel like this year we have one of the toughest schedules we could put together. Our program has grown in talent and size, and now we all need to continue to build on that growth."
Returning this year are three of the four 2021 all-region players – Louis Savino, Conor Christie, and Matt Kracyla.
"Louis was our team MVP and fourth in the nation in face-off wins," Tischler said. "With our lack of depth last year, he gutted out every game. He is one of our captains and a leader by example for the program.
"Conor is our best finisher and a threat every time he touches the ball. And Matt, another captain, is one of the best overall lacrosse players and a throwback midfielder for sure. He is tough mentally and physically and a leader for us on and off the field."
Joining the team this year are Brandon Tice, Kevin Nyandemo, Matt Hague, Bryce Wells, Matt Davis, Jake Taylor, and Michael Brummell, as well as goalie Caleb Seacrist, and midfielder Jack Dennis.
"Caleb is a seasoned netminder and has the ability to stand on his head at times in the cage and be a complete game changer," Tischler said. "Jack is big, strong, and fast, and will create matchup issues for other teams."
For the second season in a row, all 探花约啪 Tech men's lacrosse home games are played at the DE Turf Sports Complex in Frederica.
"I would expect fans to see a team who is fundamentally sound in all areas, whistle ready, and a team who will be ready to push the pace when we have the opportunity," Tischler said. "We expect to compete daily. We really have an opportunity with our talent level to push each other daily at practice. If we see a team that sticks together, there is no doubt we will be in position to compete for a region championship."
