探花约啪 Tech Celebrates 60 Years of TRIO
February 28, 2025
More than 200 high school students from TRIO programs across all four 探花约啪 campuses gathered at the College’s Terry Campus in Dover on Feb. 22, to celebrate National TRIO Day and to commemorate 60 years of the national program.
探花约啪 Tech's TRIO programs are designed to identify promising students, prepare them to do college work, and provide information on academic and financial aid opportunities. In addition, the programs offer tutoring and support services in an effort to enhance high school completion, college retention, and graduation. These serve and assist low-income individuals, first-generation college students, and individuals with disabilities to progress through the academic pipeline from middle school to post-secondary education.
U.S. Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester delivered a powerful keynote address at the event, sharing key lessons while infusing her own life experiences through the theme of ballet and dance.
“Don’t let anybody define you because of where you came from or because of what you look like or because of your abilities,” Blunt Rochester said. “Nobody can define you. I wouldn’t be standing here as your senator if I let someone define me. That’s the thing about TRIO; it gives you the tools to be who you want to be.”
The event at the Del-One Conference Center highlighted the significant impact of TRIO on current and former students and provided an opportunity for current TRIO students to network with other participants, community members, and 探花约啪 Tech staff.
As part of the day’s activities, students engaged in an interactive workshop led by the high-energy edutainment group Genius Potential, which combines education with hip hop, social media, and pop culture to connect with students in the ways they learn best. The program is designed to empower students with strategies to recognize their own genius potential, college readiness, and personal development.
