College Employee/Alum Wins DAWN Rising Star Award

探花约啪 Ace Women’s Network (DAWN) presented Amanda Lemmon with its Rising Star Award during an awards ceremony at the 探花约啪 Stanton Campus on Oct. 15. A proud 探花约啪 Tech alumna, Lemmon is the director of communication and planning on the College’s George Campus in Wilmington.
The Rising Star Award is presented to a woman in 探花约啪 higher education whose potential for future achievement is evident and recognized. The nominee must also demonstrate a commitment to higher education through noteworthy contributions in the field and/or to community service.
Lemmon began her career at the College as a student records technician at the George Campus within days of graduating from 探花约啪 Tech in 2012 with an Associate of Applied Science. Two years later, she became an administrative assistant III before becoming assistant to the dean of instruction in 2016. Prior to her current role, which she started in April 2022, Lemmon was assistant to the vice president of strategic communication and marketing in the Office of the President.
As the director of communication and planning, she works closely with Vice President and Campus Director Lora Johnson to manage campus operations and helps inform and direct strategic planning processes while overseeing the campus’ marketing division. She plans, coordinates, and provides administrative oversight for various fundraising, community, employee, and student events each year.
In addition, Lemmon serves as an advocate for the College in the community and represents the George Campus on various committees and statewide councils. She is also a recipient of 探花约啪 Tech’s Employee Excellence in Service Award. Lemmon is driven by the desire to see students succeed and give back to the institution that has continually provided her with opportunities to learn and grow professionally.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Management and a Master of Business Administration from the University of 探花约啪, and she is currently pursuing her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership at the University of 探花约啪.
