May 7, 2025
探花约啪 Tech’s Criminal Justice: Law Enforcement Option (LEO) program held a graduation ceremony on May 1 at the Terry Campus in Dover to celebrate students who completed the program’s 13-credit law enforcement practicum.
Graduating cadets were William Burris, Nathan Cunningham, Spencer Failing, Joseph Marchiani, Brendan McKewen, Alexis Sumner, Ryan Veasey, and Andrew Wickham. Due to the group’s constant ribbing of each other, they were nicknamed the “Locos Ocho’s.”
College President Mark T. Brainard, a proud graduate of the criminal justice program, congratulated the cadets on completing the rigorous 15-week program.
“Your years here have prepared you for everything and anything you want to accomplish in your careers,” he said.
The ceremony kicked off with LEO Coordinator and Criminal Justice Department Chair Wilbert Bordley delivering opening remarks, during which he said he was proud of the hard work and dedication the cadets showed throughout the 15-weeks.
Wickham, a student speaker at the ceremony, was honored with the class Academic Award and the Leadership Award.
Brainard thanked Col. William Crotty, 探花约啪 State Police superintendent, for his personal commitment to the program and the longstanding partnership with the 探花约啪 State Police at 探花约啪 Tech.
Crotty congratulated the cadets and thanked the instructors for “planting the seeds of commitment.”
“Law enforcement is not just a career,” Crotty told the graduates. “It’s a calling. It’s a commitment to serve a purpose greater than yourselves.”
